Dr. Jean John, PhD

Dr. Jean Densmore John is a licensed psychologist specializing in adolescent or adult, individuals, couples and family therapy.  Dr. John maintains a private practice in Santa Barbara, CA.

 

With over 30 years experience as a Nutritionist and more than 3 years as a licensed psychologist in California, she is an integrative psychotherapist.  As a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute, she specializes in Jungian, Archetypal and Self psychology, focusing on dream activation, bridging psyche (soul) and the soma (physical body) and individuation in relationship to Self and others.  She is currently in private practice,  among her areas of expertise are eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, psychosomatic disorders and fertility issues.  Dr. John can also provide pre-surgical assessments for Bariatic Assessments.

 
Dr John has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of eating disorders; dream activation and use in treatment; dance and performance art in treatment; nutrition and wellness.
 
 
Dr. John's therapeutic approach is to provide support and a process of listening to body, mind, soul and spirit to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
